With rising costs and fewer donations over the past two years we need to seek additional funding sources in order to offer this event to the community. Our goal is to raise an additional $4,000 so we really need your assistance. Volunteers have been approaching businesses with canisters to place at the register to help raise the necessary funding. If you have not yet been approached by volunteers and are willing to have a canister placed in your business, please contact the VCDC of?ce (624-5571) and we will deliver one. Also, if your business is willing to make a separate contribution to the celebration it would be greatly appreciated. Flood Volunteers Needed: --to help with meals for the National Guard troops (call 677-5889 to volunteer) --to help with sandbag efforts in Vermillion (stop by parking lot at Courthouse to see if there is a need for volunteers or if you need to pick up sandbags to protect your property) --to help with sandbag efforts at Dakota Dunes (located at old Gateway Building off North Sioux City exit) Feel free to contact the VCDC at 624-5571 for additional information. “Business After Hours” hosted by Heartland Smiles, 117 E. Cherry St., is Tues., June 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served. Please join us to meet Dr. Jenna Renshaw and welcome her to Vermillion, tour the facilities, make new contacts and socialize! VCDC Annual Golf Social June 28! The 4- Person Best Ball Scramble Golf Tournament will begin with team sign-in at The Bluffs Golf Course followed by pictures at 11:45 a.m. and the open format shot gun start at 1 p.m. The buffet dinner will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the golf awards and door prizes. Announcement: In preparation for our annual July 4th Celebration we are seeking food vendors, merchandise vendors, arts & craft vendors, and children’s activities. We are also seeking volunteers to help with the event. As in previous years, the celebration will be at Barstow Park from 6 p.m. to dark, followed by ?reworks. Participation will require one listening test session at the USD Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic in Vermillion. The session will take approximately two hours and can be scheduled at your convenience (including evenings and weekends). All participants will receive a free hearing test. Participants also will be compensated for their participation.
