But visitors also will notice the red “Charlie Golf Carts” carrying small groups around campus – a common enough sight over the summer, but an increased presence now that classes have begun again. Driven by USD Student Ambassadors, the carts are filled with prospective students, groups of which are given up to six tours per day. “We just drive them around campus and go into specific buildings – we show them what it would be like to be a student here,” said Holly Carlson, vice president of the Student Ambassadors. In addition to telling the possible Coyotes where each building is, tour guides give information regarding university history, activities and services. “Their experiences are the biggest things we want (the tour guides) to share,” Carlson said. “It’s more important to tell a student what you love about USD, because you can connect with the more.” Carlson has been giving tours since she was a freshman. Now a senior, Spotlight On she estimates she has given “hundreds, if not maybe up to 1,000. It’s been a lot, that’s for sure. But I love it.” The tour-giving process has changed somewhat over that time, particularly with the purchase of Charlie 1 two years ago. Two more carts were purchased the next semester. They have greatly simplified the process, Carlson said. “We didn’t have them ?
