Announcements: “April Showers Bring May Flowers”: The Main Street Center Nutrition Board has asked the kitchen staff to compile a “wish list” – another attempt to make the Main Street Center noon meal, “Meals on Wheels” and Town Square program survive. We’re asking for your help. It’s an “April Shower” of kitchen/office supplies you may donate to help keep expenses down. Thank you for any donation. Folgers Classic Coffee Regular, laundry detergent and Dawn dish soap, white paper towels, reams of printing paper (8 ½ by 11), 40-50 gallon garbage bags, first-class stamps, black pepper and HP office jet 4500 ink are among the items being accepted. Vermillion High School needs your help: The mission of the Vermillion School District is “To empower all students to maximize their success in our global community.” With this in mind, the state is mandating additional offerings for graduation starting in the fall of 2013 to include some sort of Senior Experience. This might take the form of becoming a mentor or providing job shadowing and internship opportunities. . Sanford Arts Vermillion (SAV) Program in partnership with Dakota Hospital Foundation, has been selected as a candidate for the LIVESTRONG Foundation Community Impact Project, which offers $1.2 million in funding to bring proven cancer support programs to communities across the U.S. Finalists will be determined through an online voting campaign at Vote.LIVESTRONG.org and runs until 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. If we receive the most votes within our region, we will be awarded funds, materials and training to implement Art-Lifting: Creative Support for Cancer Survivors to our community. Vermillion Meals on Wheels, like other towns participating in the nutrition project of Dakota Senior Meals, is struggling to survive.
