The landowner was contacted and it was found he had already made arrangements for a loader to remove the mud. 09/08/2014 11:53:00 A deputy located a wanted person in Vermillion. The man was arrested and transported to the jail. 09/08/2014 12:15:00 A deputy responded to a medical emergency at a rural residence. 09/08/2014 14:03:00 Deputies transported a patient from a Nursing Home in Irene to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal. 09/08/2014 18:41:00 Deputies responded to a report of gunshots in Burbank. A man was located who had fired a pistol. It was determined he had violated no laws and he was given advice on safe shooting practices. 09/09/2014 10:07:00 A deputy located a wanted person driving in Vermillion. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested for the outstanding warrant and cited for driving with a suspended driver's license. 09/09/2014 13:54:00 An inmate was transported from the jail to a doctor appointment and then returned to the jail. 09/10/2014 13:05:00 The sheriff, acting as County Coroner, responded along with detectives to a death investigation in Vermillion. The death was found to be of natural causes. 09/11/2014 7:57:00 - A deputy responded to a report of a 911 hangup phone call from a cell phone at a rural residence. The two had been drinking and started arguing. Officers were able to mediate a resolution to the argument. 09/07/2014 7:34:00 Caller reported person(s) unknown removed a planter from the caller's deck, emptied the contents and the planter was missing. The planter was later found in some shrubs. 09/07/2014 8:15:00 A local business turned over a counterfeit $20 bill that was passed at the business. Under investigation. 09/07/2014 14:37:00 Caller stated she had several text books mistakenly sent to her old address. Officers were able to contact the current resident and recover several of the missing text books unopened in their original shipping containers. 09/08/2014 0:55:00 Officers stopped a vehicle for lane violations. The driver was under 21 and a beer could be seen in the vehicle. The driver was cited for possession of alcohol. 09/08/2014 9:46:00 Caller reported a man had broken the kiosk in the business check out lane. The caller provided video of the event and a variety of other information about the man. The man was contacted and admitted to the damage. The information was forwarded to the States Attorney for charging. 09/08/2014 12:14:00 Caller requested a welfare check on a man who appeared upset. Officers contacted the man who said he was having relationship problems and was unable to get to a doctor's appointment in Sioux City. The man asked for help. Officers made several phone calls and arranged for a bus ticket to Sioux City. 09/08/2014 17:10:00 Caller reported a window in her residence had been smashed. Investigation has not identified any suspect information. 09/08/2014 20:58:00 Caller reported a dispute between two men at a local business. Officers arrived and spoke with the two men. The two had been roommates in the past, and one of the men was accusing the other of stealing a cell phone. No violence had occurred. 09/08/2014 21:32:00 Officers received a 911 call from a man stating his wife would not give him his car keys. As officers arrived in the area, a neighbor said they had heard yelling and screaming from the residence the 911 call had come. Officers entered the residence and contacted the parties inside. The man was intoxicated and became angry and wanted to leave. The wife would not give him the car keys and an argument had ensued. No one was hurt and no violence alleged. 09/11/2014 0:04:00 Caller requested officers come and remove his transported to a psychosexual evaluation in Sioux Falls. The inmate was returned to the jail following the evaluation. 09/13/2014 10:15:00 A deputy investigated a report of a car/deer crash on Highway 19 north of Vermillion. 09/13/2014 12:01:00 A deputy responded to assist the Turner County Sheriff with an alarm at an Irene business. The alarm was a malfunction. 09/13/2014 12:29:00 A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on Highway 46, 09/13/2014 13:07:00 A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on University Road. 09/13/2014 17:56:00 A deputy investigated a report from an Irene man of the theft of a bike the man had been using but did not own. The man did not know who the owner was. It is suspected the owner may have retrieved his own bicycle. The matter is under investigation. 09/13/2014 18:36:00 A deputy received a request for a welfare check of a rural resident. The deputy located the woman and her husband and asked them to contact the caller to report there was no need of concern. 09/13/2014 20:05:00 A deputy resolved a problem of stray cattle on the road near Burbank. 09/13/2014 21:17:00 A deputy responded to a medical emergency in Wakonda and assisted ambulance personnel with loading the patient for transportation to the hospital.
