Broadcaster Press 9 September 8, 2015 www.broadcasteronline.com First Dakota National Bank And Dakota State Bank Reach Merger Agreement Larry Ness, Chairman and CEO of First Dakota National Bank and Karl Adam, CEO and President of Dakota State Bank, announce an agreement has been reached for Dakota State Bank to merge into First Dakota. The agreement is subject to regulatory approval. First Dakota has over a billion in total assets with 17 banking locations in 13 communities throughout South Dakota. Dakota State Bank has locations in Blunt and Pierre with $35 million in total assets. Adam will be named First Dakota’s President of the Pierre Market. “We are delighted to add to our presence in Pierre with the strong community banking staff of Dakota State Bank”, said Ness. ”We look forward to serving the Blunt area and are confident we can play a role in the future success of these communities.” “I am excited about this merger,” said Adam. “First Dakota is a strong financial institution with a wide range of financial products and services. We are especially excited about their involvement in agriculture. First Dakota is one of the largest community Ag banks in the United States.” Ness stated, “Our banking philosophy is simple. It’s all about relationships – relationships with our customers, our employees, and our communities. First Dakota was founded in 1872 and holds the Dakota Territory’s first bank charter. In addition to the home office in Yankton, First Dakota has full-service locations in Vermillion, Sioux Falls, Salem, Mitchell, Parkston, Pierre, Wagner, Kimball, Chamberlain, Oacoma, Beresford and Elk Point. The applications to merge are being filed with the respective regulators. Once approved, the merger will occur. Closing date is anticipated to be late 2015 or early 2016. Vermillion Theaters I would like to say a bit about my experience at Vemillion Theaters. As a dad, I love going to matinees with my family. As a student, I appreciate the midnight showings. The theater is showing Pulp Fiction this week, one of my all-time favorite movies. It is a brilliant idea to bring classics to the silver screen. While celebrating classic films is great, it is awesome to see some of the biggest modern blockbusters have also made their way to Vermillion Theaters. Apparently in recent years films are projected digitally in theaters. And the projectors are huge! The Coyote Twin theater has been around for a long time, and it continues to thrive as the cinematic oasis of Vermillion. One of my favorite memories at this theater was when I attended Guardians of the Galaxy there last year with my family. We had just moved to Vermillion, and seeing Guardians at the theater was one of the first things we did when we arrived. As a result, both Guardians of the Galaxy and the Coyote Twin hold a special place in my heart.
